How do I bend 1 / 4 "aluminum plate? (I'm making a coffee table)?

I have a 5'L x 2.5 "W x 16" H coffee table 1 / 4 "alum plate. Basically, the table will look like a U. setback would be made from a single piece of aluminum with tilt sides to form legs. What is the best form of this curve and this easily scratch the surface? Do you need any special finish? Moreover, be alum. cracks in the turning points? Thanks

First, unless there is a "break" will not be able to bend itself. Secondly, you have to annealing (weaken) the aluminum at the point of inflection, or crack.
