Hip-Hop emerged from the ghettos of New York in the 70s. Tracing its roots in the African American and Latino culture in the slums of the city, the hip hop was a cultural event that covers a whole range of stereotypes and role models mainly from the black civil rights. Protesting against unemployment, poverty, crime and police brutality, express political discourse, resistance and controversy, and echoing the agony of African Americans in urban culture change U.S., hip hop was the exit.

In the 1970s, the innovative and unique approach to New York to DJ music gave birth to new sounds and dance forms. In the Bronx, Brooklyn and its environs, the experienced DJ with amazing riffs and drum breaks drum beat mixing elements of funk and disco in clubs and block parties in the neighborhood. The introduction of innovative techniques such as scratching, cutting and needle dropping, hip-hop DJs like Afrika Bambaataa, Eric B., DJ Grandmaster Flash, Funkmaster Flex and recognized the power of this new musical genre and quickly became the focus of growth in a nightclub.

Lovebug Starski, Keith Cowboy and DJ Hollywood used the term "hip hop" when the specific style of music known as disco rap. However, The term is attributed to Keith Cowboy, which was scat-singing "hip-hop-hip-hop", imitating the motion rhythm tempo of U.S. soldiers a friend of his. Over time, Cowboy worked in the rhythm of hip hop as part of their performance on the stage and was later copied by The Sugarhill Gang "Rapper's Delight" and other hip hop artists. Later, Afrika Bambaataa used the term "hip hop" to spread the culture of the streets of urban Black and Latino youth in the world.

Soon, hip hop became a mass culture. Hip hop DJs gained a great ability to attract large crowds, and paved the way for the expansion of MCing. The MC (emcee) introduced the DJ to the crowd rhythmically after a certain rhythm produced by the DJ. MCs were extremely talented in the poetry of conduct in writing in advance or improvise rhymes on the spot. Their stage presence became attractive to the growing reputation influential of hip hop. Undoubtedly, the growing influence of hip hop can be traced in the modest initial steps of DJs and MCs, along with the emergence of graffiti artists and breakdancing (graffiti) together comprising the New York scene in the 1970s.

Graffiti Hip hop is a form of self-expression and personal creativity, although many people related to the explosion of gangs in the 70s. With the emergence of DJ and breakdancing, puzzling, multi-color spray paint graffiti murals covered City New York on the walls, buildings and subway. Many DJs, MCs and break dancers themselves are graffiti artists, liked to experiment with new methods of graffiti as was experienced with music and dance, and had their own followers and fans around the world. All these hip-hop elements formed in the cultural background of its priorities United States.

All this growing influence could not go unnoticed by the record companies owned by whites. In the 1970s, the hip hop stated its trading power and the meteoric step against the American system started.

In the 1980s, hip hop is characterized by extreme diversification and quality. The main themes of hip hop and political activism were Afrocentricity, a fact that shows their intention innovative and experimental. Their sounds had a clear influence of jazz, however, were hard and strong. Some of the most important releases hip hop of the 80 are "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back "Public Enemy (1988)," Paid In Full "by Eric B. & Rakim (1985), and" 3 Feet High and Rising "by De La Soul (1989).

In the 1990s, gangsta rap, a subgenre of hip-hop, challenged America with its messages sexist, misogynist and homophobic. Glorifying blacks as criminals, drug dealers, criminals, pimps and prostitutes, and focusing on drugs, sex and street violence, gangsta rap was provocative, harsh and seductive. However, despite its controversy, the unified public and made various genres of hip hop music genre of the fastest growing industry of music, not only in the U.S. but also globally. Some of the pitches are more gangsta rap of Dr. Dre "The Chronic" (1992), Snoop Doggy Dogg "Doggystyle" (1993), The Notorious BIG's "Ready to Die" (1995) and, of course, "Tupac Shakur's All Eyez on Me" (1996) which was multi 9x platinum in the U.S.

Today, hip hop is a dominant style of music worldwide. After a brief period of declining sales in 2005, hip hop releases regained his place in the top ten charts. Moreover, the hip hop artists such as Timbaland and 50 Cent endorsed Hilary Clinton in the 2008 presidential election, while Usher, Common and Talib Kweli endorsed Barack Obama, who shows that hip hop is not just music: it is a part of American culture.
