Lock Diff

Help? Sport 4runner v8 H4 or L4? VSC? Lock or unlock this power?

Hi Can someone please explain what this setting Shoul DHAV time on the road and when to change "lock or unlock" the center diff? What is this? I have no idea, and the dealer told me a load of bull. Thank you. Thanks – this has AWD so there is no 2WD

* Correction: For normal street driving should be on H4 with the open differential. AWD H4 (High 4) is used for driving daily light / moderate terrain (IE compacted dirt roads) at any speed. L4 (low 4) is used for terrain moderate / severe (IE dirt roads or sand loose, maneuvering over rocks). High and low 4 concerns the gearing (High Gear / low gear ratio). Under 4 provides more torque and traction to the wheels and is used at low speeds. VSC (Vehicle slip control) is left in the street / highway driving, especially on wet roads. Each time you go offroad, go ahead and differential lock.
