LG 710E 17 "CRT Monitor with the complaint came from the twinkling of energy. A problem in the blink of power may be due to the primary or secondary section, or even in both sections.

A faulty power IC, power fet breakdown when under load, elevated ESR in the electrolytic capacitor, the increase in the present value of sense resistance, a shorted zener diode, a transistor leakage, open circuit or resistance has changed value on the primary side can cause energy to flash. On the secondary side, a secondary diode short circuit, flyback, HOT, horizontal yoke coil, damper diode, B + fet, a capacitor filter open, short, etc. can cause the IC and the power to open and close as well.

Normally I do is remove the B + fet first and connect a light bulb light to distinguish whether the primary or after the B + circuit components that caused power to flash. However, in this case, I do not make the light bulb and separate of the B + FET and power on the monitor. For your information, the B + FET is N-channel MOSFETs and B + FET circuit is part of the momentum.

After removing the B + fet, not only the power did not flinch, did not screen and the anode voltage and reads about 12 volts Kilo (a good monitor should be about 24 kV). The why we have 12 kilo volts is because the circuit does not promote due to the elimination of the B + fet. The screen displays a small width and size control horizontal and is set to the maximum (can not get the maximum width, because the anode voltage is only 12 kV). You can monitor or configure all in the On Screen Display (OSD), except that you can not bring the maximum horizontal size.

To have a screen, is a good key for me because I knew that many circuits are functioning as power section (thus more unsuspecting primary side), flyback, yoke coils, micro-p, EEPROM, horizontal and the vertical circuit, circuit and even the color of the OSD circuit. Without the B + fet, no screen, but with B + fet a flash of energy. In this case, one always check the B + fet first am I right? However, the B + fet proved to be good!

Now, where is the culprit hiding? Solution problems can sometimes be very frustrated and most of the time is always fun. One of my methods that I liked to use is to play for all components unusually warm the finger board. (Please take note of all electronic repairers turn off and unplug the power cord and discharge of the large filter capacitor on the primary side before starting to touch any component).

Usually after power off, let me turn to the first flyback then to other components surrounding the high voltage section. While browsing the components with the finger I ran into a resin coated ceramic disc capacitor is very hot. It is near the flyback and indeed the capacitor is there to act as a filter capacitor for the output line 400 V CC as shown in the photo.

After the PAC was removed and check with an analog meter, showed a short-circuit viewing in the X1 ohms range. A capacitor must be able to show the loading and discharge activity in the range of X10 k ohms. The replacement capacitor for the new LG 710E 17 "CRT Monitor cured the fault.

The reason why food monitor blinks is because the faulty capacitors shorted when operating at full voltage (circuit to improve the operation and about 60 -70 VDC enter in the B + pin flyback).

When the B + FET was removed (not working drive circuit and only about 40 VDC to enter the B + pin of flyback) the monitor is not operating under full operating voltage and the capacitor can still tolerate defective (partial short) and became hot. I think if the monitor is on "in" a little more, would cause the capacitor to develop a direct short circuit and if this happens, the elimination of the B + FET to test the monitor would make no difference (the power still flashing).
