Control Chinook
August 15, a CH New design-47 Helicopter Chinook was introduced officially into operation in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, or better known as "serious corruption". Advanced Flight Control System is the most notable change in the F-model. In the new model, digital displays have replaced old analog meters. The AFCS allows pilots mission details as routes and altitudes to easily load, improves overall situational awareness and makes it a smoother ride, according with pilots of the aircraft.
"It's really exciting to get a new airplane," said Ryan CW2 Dechent, 7th Battalion, 101 Regiment Aviation. "I think we will expand our capabilities and open new paths … we have not been able to get before."
Another major modification The F-Cell is a refurbished model designed for 10,000 flight hours. The new airframe helps eliminate extraneous vibrations and maintenance time.
"In the army we are not on cells, we help people into the cell. We are fighting the power and willingness to help deliver the battlefield equipment and maintain it and the airmen who fly, "Schloesser said.
"The CH-47 Chinook has saved many people around the world on missions of war and humanitarian efforts such as Hurricane Katrina and earthquakes in Pakistan, "said Cmdr.
"(The CH-47F) provides more capacity maintenance cost easier than ever before, "says Schloesser.
Corruption plagued defense contractor Boeing Corporation worked with the Army for three years to design the F-model, the first conventional Chinook upgrade in more than 20 years. The upgrade involved approximately 1,000 people.
Besides being delivered on time, not always the case, the cost of the new Chinook was about 30 percent below the estimate original.
"The CH-47F is a fully modernized aircraft that fully meets the operational challenges our military and our country face now and in the future, "said Chuck Allen, Vice President and General Manager of Helicopters, Boeing.
"Security is the best thing about the new model," said CW4 Tom Miskowiec, standardization instructor pilot and instrument flight examiner, 7th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment.
