The Waltham transmitting station is a service of broadcasting and telecommunications in Waltham-on-the-Wolds, 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Melton Mowbray. It lies within the parish of Waltham, near Stonesby civil, in the district of Melton, Leicestershire, UK. It has a 315metres (1,033 feet) mast with tubular steel braces. The height of the main structure of the upper steel structure is 290.8 meters (954 feet) with UHF television antennas contained within a GRP shroud mounted on the top.
Construction
The mast First built in 1966. On 16 November 1966, collapsed. Parts of the remains are still in use as shelters pork.
The structure was rebuilt in 1968. This delay in their first transmissions until 1970, and was not fully operational until April 1971. This is a shorter version of the second transmitter that collapsed Emley Moor broadcasting, while on 19 March 1969 due to the weight of the ice in structural cables. The mast of Waltham has four sets of levels of the stay as opposed six former Emley Mast. The latter was identical to the current Belmont mast 385m.
Coverage
The mast was originally built to provide BBC2 (in the new UHF system of 625 lines) to the East Midlands. Now is the main TV transmitter for all terrestrial channels covering the East Midlands — Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, South Lincolnshire and North Northamptonshire. It can even be received with some degree of Maltby in South Yorkshire and Thurleigh (North Bedfordshire), East Midlands expatriates. Owned and operated by National Grid Wireless. Belmont is twice as potent as Waltham, but has a similar area to the deck. The West Midlands area, the BBC is three times the size of the East Midlands has three main transmitters, with Sutton Coldfield is four times more potent to Waltham.
Digital TV
Waltham transmission of digital TV on 15 November 1998. In July 2007 was confirmed by Ofcom that DSO (digital) Waltham transmitted five – six – MUXes within your original C / Group D MUX 4 is out of bounds at CH29, but has yet to collect on an antenna of C / D of the group in areas reasonable signal, as shown in this graph.
Relay stations
Although Waltham can be received in some degree throughout the East Midlands and a lots of Cambridgeshire, giving people outside the region of the choice of programs for the BBC East Midlands is one of the relay stations (also known as epeaters) is in the rugged border areas to strictly define what the region receiving the BBC. The two bonds are the strongest in Nottingham (at west of the J26 M1) and Stanton Moor, near Bakewell. Further north-west of Bakewell, is stuffed transmitters BBC North West. Buxton is the meeting point between the hill Winter, Emley Moor and Waltham broadcasting regions. North-east of Derbyshire, this of Tideswell and Hope Emley Moor (BBC Leeds).

It features manual, motion, and schedule recording modes, and supports multiplex operation. Recorded videos are stored in H.264 format that helps reduce video file sizes without compromising on the quality and integrity of images. Videos are watermarked with date and time for authentication purposes. Recorded videos can be viewed locally, over the internet or on a 3G smartphone (using the ‘SwannView’ app). You can transfer the recorded video to a flash drive via the USB port, or send it to a server using the network interface. UPnP (Universal Plug n Play) technology allows the DVR to be automatically configured to a router (having UPnP capability). The DVR can be controlled using a mouse or by remote control. Power is drawn from a 12 VDC power supply. The ADS-180 day/night camera, featuring a 1/4″ Super CMOS color sensor and 6mm lens, delivers enhanced quality imagery at resolutions up to 400 TVL. It is equipped with 30 IR LEDs that have 10,000 hours of shelf-life, and provide a viewing range of 33′ (10m). Minimum Illumination of 0 lux helps provide clear images even in low-light conditions. Automatic Gain Control adjusts the signal strength to maintain a constant brightness level. Backlight Compensation adjusts video gain to correct the exposure when the object being captured is in front of a bright light. With the Day/Night mode, the camera automatically switches between color and B&W according to changes in ambient lighting.
